GD’s show in Birmingham is being held at Genting Arena at the NEC. Although this venue is a bit out of the way of Birmingham City Centre, yet it is well connected with railway – a short walk from Birmingham International Railway Station and Birmingham Airport, and motorway system- adjacent with Junction 6, M42.  In addition, if you purchase your tickets with The Ticket Factory or Gentingtickets.co.uk,  you will get 25% off your Virgin Train ticket.

The venue usually holds 14+ events with under 14s needing to be accompanied by someone over the age of 18. There is no order to how you must line up while waiting to enter. Typically, they just let you in in the order you arrive. Numbers on standing tickets do not indicate a numbering system, it is just the issue number. Also, do NOT camp out over night. You may be refused entry if you do so. It is advised you arrive around 10am/11am.

When the main doors open, you’ll be let into a hall that has food/drink stands and merchandise stalls. You will have free reign of these areas before being admitted to the seating and standing areas. Fans of other artists who are in standing usually form an orderly queue whilst waiting for the standing area to open.

You will be checked on the way in. Bags will be searched and you will be patted down by a member of security. In light of recent terror attacks, please understand and cooperate as best as you can. This is to ensure everyone’s safety so we can all enjoy the event. (It is advised that you take a smaller bag with you.)

Genting Arena is right next to Birmingham International rail station. You can catch a train at Birmingham New Street; trains are regular and take 10-15 mins. Tickets for this journey usually cost between £3-£4. Buses can be caught at Birmingham Moor Street and Solihull stations. For further info call National Rail on 08457 484950

Upon leaving the station, you can see the arena right away.

There are plenty of car parking space around the area if you travel by car. (Avoid the queues to pay by pre-booking from when your event tickets go on sale)

There are also many taxi ranks around the arena/ I’d personally take a taxi back to your accommodation after the show, depending on how late the concert finishes and when the last train is. It’ll be easier and safer in my opinion.

Age Restrictions for Genting Arena.

Under 14 year olds MUST be accompanied by an adult aged 18yrs + with a valid ticket, into the venue (i.e. 14yrs and over can come into the building on their own with a valid ticket).

Age Restriction for standing floor at the Genting Arena.

Under 14 year olds are not permitted on a standing floor.

14 and 15 year olds are only permitted on a standing floor when accompanied by an adult aged 18yrs +.

Where is the box office? (including opening times)

The box office is located next to the main entrance of the venue.

The Genting Arena box office is open on show days at approx. 4pm. On certain show days the box office may be open earlier or later dependant on the nature of the event. To confirm the opening times before travelling please call 0844 581 1331 for up to date information. Please note, the box office is not open on non-show days.

Where can I collect my tickets?

Tickets should be collected from the relevant venue box office on the day of the concert/event. Please present your card at the box office window marked ‘Prepaid Collections’. PLEASE NOTE : Tickets for evening concerts and events will be available for collection from 1 hour 30 minutes prior to the show start time.

Does the venue have a cloakroom?

Due to the size of the Genting Arena and the number of people visiting during an event, unfortunately they are unable to offer a cloakroom facility. The venue would advise you to bring the minimal amount of additional personal belongings – particularly if you are going to a standing concert, as there will not be space for you to leave bags, coats etc on the floor where you stand.

What items are not permitted in the venue?

Glass Bottles; Cans; Flasks; Cool boxes; Large flags / Banners; Helium balloons; Studded belts; Dog collars; Trouser chains; Selfie Sticks; Sharp/large rings, smoke grenades, flares and fireworks. All such items will be confiscated on arrival and will be returned to you at the end of the show.

(I will be asking about flags/banners/lightstick for our event. Especially lightsticks for obvious reasons ^^)

Hotels

For some people travelling to Birmingham, I have looked at a few hotels you may wish to stay there. I won’t put prices as their may vary depending on your own situations.
